A Festival of the Arts

Ten days to the island

A festival of the arts

Ten days is a short time if you have a departure date and a long list of things to do.
Why not spice it up by layering in an arts festival.

Day one:

The first event, ‘the phone’, documents a ‘sit in’ or in artist terms ‘residency’ at the public face of a telephone company. The intention to get something done culminated in a realization that actually most people within the company and certainly at the public interface of the company were powerless to get it done. The method of getting things done was to construct an email and then advise the customer that it will take up to 24 hours or up to 48 hours or up to 72 hours. Our relationships with telephone lines, wireless communication and computers generate sometimes efficiency and at other times a powerlessness.

Ironically we open a festival which for all intents and purposes is only available to most people through an interface of the web. I use it as a powerful communication tool, but you will be fairly powerless to access the real thing.
